Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga was one of the best albums of 2007, keeping with the quality that their previous albums have provided. Spoon has a definite sound that’s been forged through Britt Daniel’s distinct vocals and an unwavering, but not overwhelming, commitment to striking guitar riffs and steady rhythm. Yet within this sound they have still managed to grow and experiment; so while Got Nuffin (off their new EP of the same name) doesn’t completely buck tradition, it’s still a really enjoyable song.

Ugh. As everyone knows, sometimes you just have shitty days. Most of these days happen with no rhyme or reason, which is all the more frustrating because there’s often no way to prevent them. Interpol is one of my go to bands for shit days. I don’t really know why; is it the fact that Paul Banks’ vocals are equal parts dark and soothing? Maybe it’s the undertones of anger and bitterness (mixed with a bit of angst, naturally). Maybe it’s just the fact that although their music isn’t all that happy, I can still sing along with a smile on my face (at the very least, a smirk). I am not gonna question it. But yes, I had a shitty day. So I will listen to Interpol, and I will eat cookies and pity myself, and then I will get over it and laugh at my ridiculousness.

Passion Pit is one of the breakthrough bands of the year, enjoying hype earned from their blindingly cheery single Sleepyhead. Their debut album Manners definitely carries on in the poppy, joyous style of Sleepyhead and although some say that the album does not live up to their expectations, I don’t feel the same way. The Reeling is one of the highlights from a very good album and the upbeat sound on this track contrasts with the less than happy lyrics it features. It’s perfect summer music, and definitely stuff you can dance to.

This is Kingsley, his kind have been evolving since the age of the dinosaurs. Their appearance has not changed much over the years but it is there mental and emotional capabilities that have evolved. There are not many of them left and they try to avoid being seen by most humans. Kingsley spends the majority of his time searching for love, however he is not sure he will ever find it.

One of my previous songs of the day, Paranoid by Kanye West, featured Mr. Hudson. Today’s song of the day reverses that set up: it’s a song by Mr. Hudson featuring Kanye. It’s pretty catchy, and although I’m over hearing Kanye’s autotuned voice I’ll excuse it this time. It’s odd, he sounds better singing on this than he does on almost all of 808s and Heartbreak. Supernova might be a bit too slow for the clubs this summer, but I definitely could see a remix being popular. If anything, it’s pretty fun to sing along to while trying to hit the high notes without the aid of autotune. Take that Kanye!
