Welcome to Straight to Hell, our new feature where we tackle straight to DVD movies and try to come up with some coherent thoughts beyond “Who thought this was a good idea?”.
So our first film is The Grudge 3. The reason I feel absolutely no shame ripping apart a movie like this is simple: it’s such an obvious cash grab. No one walked out of the first (or second) movie with a single tear flowing from their eye, thinking “Brilliant, just brilliant. I can’t live without more!” No starving writer worked furiously on this script, drifting from reality, ignoring his pleading friends and family, shouting at his girlfriend that “THIS STORY NEEDS TO BE TOLD! PEOPLE DESERVE TO SEE THIS!”. Nope. Didn’t happen (please god).
